Feeling Proud of Myself

Nothing can make a person feel more proud of themselves than building furniture by themselves, wow do I feel unstoppable! I built a bookshelf this evening without any assistance and I feel super proud of myself for figuring it out and doing it successfully without any help. Building furniture can be a sort of litmus test for a relationship I have heard people joke about. Well my ex-husband and I were not good at building furniture together and that should have been an early red flag.

Some other things I feel proud of myself recently are: I took a trip with a friend to the beach and we figured out lugging out all the beach equipment and setting up the tent and chairs just us two women. It sure would have helped to have a man’s help with all of that heavy stuff but we were ok!

Another thing I feel super proud of myself recently is that I am gaining some independence for myself and my mom is not spending as much time at my house helping anymore. She and I have been pretty co-dependent for some time so this is a huge improvement. I think we are both happier with a break too. And what is nice is that she is still close enough to see each other regularly. The difference is that she is just not here all of the time, which is nice, and I am finally taking more control over my own life.

It has been a few good weeks since my trip to the Caribbean and I think that trip made all the difference in helping me get my confidence back, especially regarding taking care of my daughter solo.
