Summer Lovin’

Why does it feel like another summer just slipped through my fingers? School starts for my daughter next week and it feels like the summer just flew by. My daughter grew a little taller. We made memories and went on trips. The calendar found bits of breathing room. We relaxed and had fun!
Still, as another August begins,
I wonder why summer went so fast. They say time flies when you’re having fun. I used to laugh at that.
Time felt linear. Logical. Measurable.
Then I became a mom. And I get it now. Time is a thief. Especially in the summertime.
No matter how many days we spend together, laughing, and playing , and soaking it all up, and making all the memories…
It ends.
And just like that, the backpacks resurface. We’re packing lunches and juggling sports schedules, falling right back into the doldrums of the school year routine. It makes my heart squeeze a little tighter every year. Maybe it’s because now I know just how fleeting this season of life really is. And how deeply I love it and will miss it when time rears its ugly head and she’s all grown up.
