My mom turns 70 at the end of August, my daughter turns 7, and my sister turns 38 both in the middle of September. Right now and the month of April are the biggest times for birthdays in my nuclear family.
I haven’t spoken to my sister for a while now, since the last weekend in March when we were planning on celebrating Easter last spring. I am concerned it will be awkward. I think we need to get over this hump, of not speaking, though prior to the holidays. And you know maybe things will get worse, that is a possibility, but I don’t think it will- fingers crossed!
This weekend my mom wanted us all to get together (my parents, me and B, and my sister’s family). We decided on a restaurant closer to my sister to be accommodating to her schedule that also has a fun green space for the kids to run around on. I think it should be fun. Last weekend I took my mom on a tea bus adventure for her early birthday celebration and we just had a blast! We rode around town on a double decker bus seeing the sites of downtown Houston and sipping tea and eating light snacks. The picture I got of my mom when we first entered the bus was so adorable she was so excited.
I am in the process of planning my daughter’s birthday celebration. Her request was an arcade so I found a local game place to host the party at. So far eight girls are coming and still waiting to hear from seven girls’ parents. My daughter is so looking forward to it and I know she will have so much fun! I have also requested ice cream sandwiches for her class on her birthday, so the day of will be a celebration too.
I love celebrating people and gift giving is my love language. Lots of celebrations to look forward to so I am just going to forget the stress with my sister and enjoy it!
